Are your products sold nationwide?
The vast majorities of our products are
available and sold nationwide.
Where can you find a certain product?
Check with the store manager about the
availability of any of our products. If you
continue to have trouble locating any of our

What is the shelf life of our meat
snacks?
Each product is stamped with a best by date.
The product should be used on or before this
date to ensure freshness.
How long after the "sell by" date are our
products good?
To ensure the best tasting meat snack
available, please use on or before the best
by date.
How long is the meat snack good after it
has been opened?
Jerky is good for about a week after
opening. The flavor can get "old" or
oxidized. It will not spoil like fresh meat.
Please make sure to reseal the package
after each use. Air getting into the bag may
dry the product out.
Why does Beef Jerky cost so much?
It takes one pound of meat or poultry to
make 4 oz of Jerky.
Do you have mail order catalog?
Currently we do not
have a catalog for mail order. Our products
are available for purchase online through
Amazon.com using the “buy now” link above.
Does Jerky need to
be refrigerated after
opening?
Because most of the moisture is removed,
jerky is shelf stable and can be stored
without refrigeration.
Do you offer tours?
At one time we did but for safety reasons,
we do not give plant tours.

Do you have a low or no-salt beef jerky
We do not have a low or no-salt beef jerky.
Can Oberto Jerky be kept longer by
freezing it?
Not really, freezing could cause off flavor.
Why does Jerky look salty?
Sometimes the salt re-crystallizes on the
surface of the product.
Does Oberto Natural Style Beef Jerky or
Turkey Jerky contain Wheat Gluten?
The Oberto Natural Style Beef Jerky in
original, hickory and peppered do not
contain wheat gluten.
The Oberto Natural Style Turkey Jerky in
original and peppered do not contain wheat
gluten.
Do we use peanuts or peanut derivatives
in any of our products?
We use no peanut or peanut derivatives in
any or our products.
What is the little white bag in the
packages?
The white bag in the package is iron oxide.
It is non-toxic. It helps to extend the
freshness of the product.
What types of preservatives do we use in
processing Oberto Jerky Natural Style Beef
Jerky?
Salt and Sodium Nitrite are the
preservatives use in Oberto Beef Jerky.
Turkey has salt but no Sodium Nitrite.
What temperature do you process the Jerky
at?
The USDA Meat and Poultry Hotlines current
recommendations for making jerky safely are
to heat the meat to 160 degrees F. before
the dehydrating or oven process. This step
assures that any bacteria present will be
destroyed by wet heat.
