Senior Food Technologist
Reports To: R & D Manager

We are currently looking to add a Sr. Food Technologist to our R&D team. This position will focus on product development initiatives for a variety of meat snacks. Specifically: new product development and formulation, reformulation of existing products, process recommendations and development of process specifications. Keeps abreast of new innovations in food trends, ingredients, and process concepts to improve quality or drive cost optimization.
Carries out product/process development activities to meet stated targets or gold standards, including flavor, texture, quality, cost, and any other parameters defined. This may include new development and/or redevelopment/reformulation of products and/or processes.
Supports key product development projects. Works well with cross-functional teams, leading NPD activity to take product development from concept through manufacturing implementation.
Required Qualifications/Education/Skills
Minimum B.S. in Meat Science or related field and 5-8 years of experience in product development/formulation. Additional (non-R&D or non-meat) experience and/or further degrees (i.e. M.S., Ph.D.) may be considered in lieu. Previous experience in meat product development preferred.
Experience and/or education in cooking, or culinary skills, are a plus.
Works cross-functionally as part of a large or small project team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are key.
Excellent computer skills are necessary; company standard is MS Outlook, Word, Excel. MS Project, ESHA Genesis R&D, and other programs are also used in the department. Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar software is a plus.
Interest in food and the ability to cook are required.
